Panda and Hedgehog - Episode 4

Panda and Hedgehog
 판다양과 고슴도치

Episode Recap

Won Il scolds Seung Ji for hurting Panda. Seung Ji asks him to just punch him is he’s going to. Won Il grabs him by the collar and tells him to get out. Seung Ji asks whether Won Il owns the place. Won Il swings and Seung Ji dodges. Seung Ji twists Won Il’s arm and push him to the ground. Panda steps up and kicks Seung Ji out. She tells him that she never wants to see him again. She asks Won Il to come with her because she wants to talk to him. Seung Ji storms out. Won Il keeps asking her what Seung Ji did to upset her but she changes the subject by asking him when she can start working and how soon she can get paid. Won Il still asks her and wonders if he should punch or kill Seung Ji. But, she wants to do things her own way.

On the way home, Won Il giggles to himself. Won Yi thinks has gone mad and asks what’s wrong with him. He tells her that he worried over nothing. He thinks that he won but Won Yi says that there’s no chance for him to get a date. He can’t win over Seung Ji. Won Il asks whose side is she on.

Eun Bi tells Seung Ji that she’s on his side. She followed him on the bus and is trying to convince him to make things right. He asks who she is. She introduces herself as Panda’s good friend and Won Il’s assistant. She knows that they were dating and that’s why they fought. He explains that people have different reasons to fight. She says she can tell by the look on one’s face. He asks her about his face. She tells him that she’s never seen that look on Panda’s face before. So, she thinks that Panda likes him.

Da Na tells Panda that it’s wrong to use Won Il’s money to pay off Seung Ji oppa. Panda questions her how can she call him oppa when he tried to take over the café. Da Na explains that it is a misunderstanding caused by Panda believing what Seung Ji’s friends said. She gives an example if Eun Bi said that Panda used friendship to get money from Won Il. Da Na refuses to kick Seung Ji out of the team.

Eun Bi tells Seung Ji that she’ll what she can to help him be together with Panda. He asks why she’s wants to help. She honestly answers that it’s because of Won Il. Seung Ji sighs as she is using him to get what she wants. She tells him that he can call her anytime and gives him her card.

After she left, his grandfather tells him not to do things behind Panda’s back like dating other firls. Seung Ji says it’s some weird person he met. His grandfather asks if he got dumped. He asks where his grandfather learned to say such things and he replies that he learnt from his very own grandson. Seung Ji asks his grandfather for advice in dealing with a woman who’s mad at him. He asks him to beg which is the only way. He tells his grandfather that he’s old and knows nothing about women. His grandfather asks him what did he do wrong and he replies that it’s a misunderstanding. So, he suggests that Seung Ji has to explain to her until he understands. Seung Ji scoffs on his grandfather’s understanding about women.

Seung Ji goes to Café Panda and wants to talk to Panda but she walks away ignoring him. He waits outside and she comes out of the balcony to see it he’s still there. She goes back to her room. He tries to call her and then sends a text telling her that he wants to explain things to her. He types two more texts that say that it’s a misunderstanding and it’s all true. He did come in to take over the café. In the end, he doesn’t send those two texts and leaves. Panda talks to a photo of his parents that she’ll never forgive him and she’ll never lose the house. She comes out to the balcony and finds that he’s gone. She mumbles because she only receives a text and he left.

The next day, his friends as him to go and bring the bouquet of roses to Panda and apologizes. Beom Bo brings cakes and tells him that Cherry Blossom made them for Panda. He reluctantly brings the roses and cake but finds a notice outside which say that the café is looking for a new patisserie. He leaves in a huff.
Da Na and Customer complain about Seung Ji leaving. Panda should consider her money situation before she fires Seung Ji. Won Yi yells from the front of the store and bring some customers who want to place a big order. The cupcakes need to have the same taste as the ones from the promotional sale. Da Na agrees to everything even though Panda says no.

Won Il helps her by lending some patisseries or give her enough cupcakes. His stepfather overhears and wonders what he is doing. Won Il asks his hyung for help but they will be very busy in the next few weeks. So, they can’t meet that order. His hyung asks what happened to Seung Ji. He smirks and replies that Seung Ji got fired.

Seung Ji and his friend hang out at the park. Panda’s aunt drives up and sees them. She asks him why he isn’t at the café and he tells her that he was fired. She asks him to spill the details and he admits that he wanted to make Café Panda a bigger shop, help his grandfather, and beat Saint Honore. Panda’s aunt tells him that if he can make that happen, she’ll get him back to the café. She warns him not to make Panda cry and move out from that building. They go to the café and informed that Panda went to Saint Honore to fix the order situation.

Won Il shows her their products while his stepfather overhears their conversation. His secretary warns him that his mother is over there so he brings Panda upstairs to a rooftop garden. She asks how he can give her so much even though the cakes are so expensive. He tells her not to worry about it. She teases him for spending too much on her. She hurt her back so he bought an expensive massage chair. If she hurt her foot, would he buy a car? He said that he would. She points out that they aren’t dating. He points out that Seung Ji isn’t her boyfriend and she’s willing to accept things from him. Won Il reminds her that he known her longer and she doesn’t know anything about Seung Ji’s background. She says that she’s using Seung Ji for her own purposes. He lectures her about looking into his resume before hiring him. In business, things need to be done accordingly, whether it’s a large company or a booger-sized store. From there, she tells at him who says bad about her store. She tells him that she won’t need his help and asks him to take back the chair. Also, she won’t work with him. She warns him not to follow her. After she left, he hits his own head for saying the wrong things to her.

On her way back home by bus, she complains that both guys are bad and tries to figure out how to fix the problem. Her aunt calls her to tell her that she has a present. If she accepts it, she can’t reject it immediately.

She still can’t believe that everyone needs Seung Ji as the key for making the café running. She tells Seung Ji that he has to follow her conditions. First, he must get on his knees to apologize. Second, he has to promise her parents that he’ll keep his promise. Third, he has to write a new contract which states that he’ll do whatever she asks him to do or else he forfeits his wealth. He complains but in the end he gives in. When she sees his ID number, she orders him to call her noona from now on. She orders him to clean up the place before coming down. Da Na and Panda are happy to have Seung Ji back. Da Na warns his sister not to throw away her aunt’s present which turns out it’s Seung Ji.

Won Il’s mother tries to get the information from Won Yi by showing her money and credit cards. Won Yi refuses to tell but she snatches the credit card before she escapes. His stepfather thinks that Won Il’s Achilles heel must be women.

Won Il decides to work out. His hyung comes and asks him what he’s doing. Won Il asks if he knows anyone who is specialize in martial arts. He wants to learn to fight so he can win against Seung Ji. He also asks what to do if a girl is angry with him.

Seung Ji wants to borrow his grandfather’s van but he decides that he needs a car instead. At the Café Panda, he goes up behind Panda while she worries over her bank accounts. He brings her to buy a delivery van. He buys one and she tells him that she’s so happy as if it’s her birthday. She thinks that today it’s her birthday but she says it’s not. He asks what he’s going to do for her on her birthday. She asks him to make a cake. When she asks if that’s it, he replies that he already bought her a car. Later, Seung Ji draws some stickers for the van and decorates it into a Panda van.

Won Il is still thinking about Panda. Won Yi suggests buying her a car. He tells her that’s what started this whole fight in the first place. As they leave the store, his stepfather wants to buy a car for Won Yi. She’s excited but she missed the point that he’s bribing her. The siblings drop by at Café Panda and find a delivery van outside. They see Seung Ji in the window decorating a cake. Seung Ji pretends to shoot Won Il and smirks to himself while Won Il fumes. Won Yi warns him that if he gets jealous, he’ll lose. They leave and Won Yi sends a salute to Seung Ji but he didn’t see that.

The annoying baker is hiding with a bag which consists of something moving.

Panda and Seung Ji go shopping for supplies for their big order. Won Il is in martial art training but always lose. Panda falls asleep while Seung Ji prepares the cupcakes. Seung Ji tenderly puts the giant panda arm behind her head as a pillow. Seung Ji falls asleep at his desk. The next day, he wakes up because of the girls screaming. He runs out to see them standing on the stool as there are cockroaches scurry around. Da Na realizes that it’s the annoying baker who pulled of this evil plan. Panda and Seung Ji goes to the prep room and find that all the ingredients are ruined.

Da Na and Customer decide to beat up the annoying baker. Panda and Seung Ji figure out how to finish the order while the café is being cleaned off by the exterminators. Saint Honore will not help while Seung Ji’s grandfather’s oven is too small. Then, they decide to continue making cupcakes at his grandfather and finish it up at the café after the extermination. Panda tells him ‘1, 2, 3, Go!’ and he smiles because of her encouragement. Everyone helps out in making the cupcakes. Late at night, Cherry Blossom takes over so that Seung Ji can get some rest. He tells her that he loves her. She notices that his grandfather is humming while working. Seung Ji finishes the cake and Panda excitedly hugs him. Beom Boo sees and keeps everyone out so that they have their moment together. Panda realizes what she’s doing and she pulls away.

The next day, they deliver the cupcakes and cake. Everyone celebrates with joy. Panda puts her hands on Seung Ji’s shoulders. He reminds her that everyone is looking and asks him whether she’s going to hug him or anything. She tells him that their cakes are just as good as Saint Honore’s. They decide to have a celebratory dinner where we find drunken Seung Ji happily hugging his grandfather who is trying to sleep.
In the early morning, Won Yi comes to Saint Honore. She asks his brother why all their cakes are so sad while Café Panda’s are so bright and lively. Won Il asks Eun Bi to help to get Panda to write up an article about Seung Ji.

When Eun Bi arrives, the café is busy with many customers. Panda goes to find Seung Ji. He’s working on some sketches. Panda is stunned as she notices that there’s a tattoo peeking out of his collar.

Point of View

Since Seung Ji has a tattoo, she realizes that she is going to work with him who used to be in jail. It’s better for her to know this anyway instead of finding out the truth towards the very end. It’ll be great to see have Panda is going to overcome with her ‘friendship’ with Seung Ji. On the other hand, Seung Ji is trying to turn his life around so I’m sure that Panda is going to be a great supporter to him. Both of them are going to help each other along the way. Besides, Seung Ji is not a very bad person and he learnt his previous mistakes throughout his whole life.

The ‘family’ bonding is so sweet. I love their conversations. I think that Seung Ji is her long-lost son. Seung Ji and Cherry Blossom are like mother and son even though they didn’t realize that they found each other. Cherry Blossom always cares for him like a son such as asking him to take some rest while she helps him continue in finishing the cupcakes. Looks like as time goes by, they will soon realize that they have found their loved ones. I have doubts about how Seung Ji will react when he found out that Cherry Blossom and his grandfather are his real family relatives. I think he’ll be shocked and get angry. Anyways, I want Seung Ji, his grandfather, and Cherry Blossom to be officially together as one big and happy family.

Won Il, oh Won Il. I don’t get you when it comes to love relationship. You should have been careful about what you said about Panda’s café. You should have apologized to her. You should have not criticized about the cupcake orders by saying that Saint Honore cakes are way better than the ‘cheap ones’ which are made by Seung Ji. Actually, Seung Ji’s cupcakes are way better than Saint Honore. Basically, you don’t even know how to get Panda’s heart. So, stop being a foolish man and do something about it or else Panda will go to Seung Ji’s side.

I don’t get Panda at all. She doesn’t want to get help from Won Il but instead she gets help from Seung Ji. Then, she decides to ask Won Il for help because she misunderstands Seung Ji’s intentions to work at the café. She goes back and forth between these two guys for help. I agree with Da Na’s opinion about taking Won Il’s money. She should have listen to what Seung Ji has to say before jumping into conclusions and runs over to Won Il for comfort. The point is that Panda is seriously not setting her mind straight. She doesn’t know what to do in handling her own situations while keeping the café running. She needs to be independent and making the right decisions before she troubles other.

Panda and Hedgehog - Episode 3

Panda and Hedgehog
 판다양과 고슴도치

Episode Recap

Won Il asks Seung Ji about entering Café Panda and Seung Ji if he’s a stalker because he saw him yesterday when Panda fell off from the stool. Seung Ji says that Won Il didn’t even see how she is and he just left. Won Il notes that he hans’t seen her for 15 years and it would have been awkward. He asks Seung Ji what he is and Seung Ji replies that it’s the worst that he can imagine. Won Il thinks he works as a bartender.

The annoying baker voices his opinions about Panda posting up fliers about hiring a new patisserie. She points out that his cakes don’t sell and she doesn’t make any profit. He tells her all his ‘virtues’. He demands compensation for defamation of character. She adds that he only sold 8 cakes and half of them were returned. She has to pay for everything while she worked as a part-time journalist. However, she got fired. She talks about her parents and starts to cry.

Her aunt and Da Na are making kimchee until they hear the crying sound. At the same time, Seung Ji and Won Il also hear it and wonder what that was. Won Il thinks it’s a bear. Her aunt and Da Na come down with a bat and a kendo sword. Panda admits that she been covering up his lies about his resume. Her aunt points out that she hates people lying and yells at him. Outside, the annoying baker runs for his life and screams that a group of pandas is attacking him. The women come rushing out and stop when they see the two guys. Then, a Saint Honore stops in front of the café and Seung Ji senses something’s up.

Once they’re inside the café, Won Il challenges him to a baking competition to be patisserie of Café Panda. Panda raises her hand and explains that this café isn’t successful enough to hold this competition. Seung Ji jumps in and announces that he’ll accept the challenge.

Panda and Seung Ji are outside the café. Panda tells Seung Ji that Saint Honore is the best of the best bakeries and it’s pointless to participate in this competition. Seung Ji asks whether she thinks that he can’t compete them and Saint Honore is better than him. He proposes a deal: if he wins, Panda will hire him on the spot without his resume and he gets 50% of the profit. If he loses, he works for free for half a month. Panda is confused because both options sound good. Seung Ji agrees and asks her to tell him encouraging words: 1,2,3, Go!. He sees Won Il coming outside and leans in closer to Panda. He glances over to make sure Won Il has seen before stepping back.

Won Il pleads his Glasses hyung that he has to win no matter what. His hyung points out that he came here to make a cake not for a competition. He adds that he doesn’t want to take away someone’s chance for a job or his woman. He says that Panda is not Won Il’s woman. Won Il explains why Panda means a lot to him. When he was little, his father passed away. He didn’t have anyone to comfort since his mom was already in love with someone else. Panda came into his life and he smiles because of her. She was always by his side and helped him through darkest times. Thus, he can’t abandon Panda now when he can help her.

Seung Ji gets himself ready for the competition. The rules are explained and the judges, who are in the Café Panda, are announced. The baking competition begins. Won Il anxiously waits outside and stares at Panda. Seung Ji’s friend runs to Seung Ji’s grandfather’s bakery to let him know that Seung Ji participates in the baking competition. His grandfather grumpily asks if all he can talk about is Seung Ji. He mentions that going against Saint Honore is not a good idea. His grandfather storms off and Cherry Blossom asks about Saint Honore.

When Seung Ji was in jail, he learns baking through a television show where Won Il’s stepfather shows how to do baking. When Seung Ji got out, he is determined that he want to work at Saint Honore even if it meant just washing dishes. However, they refused, since he had been in jail, and kicked him out. He waited all day and night just to talk to the manager. Won Il’s father came out and he threw Seung Ji’s cake in the street without looking at it. The bakers brought him to the back and bullied him. He wants to kill Won Il’s stepfather so he brought the gasoline to torch the place. Luckily, his grandfather stopped him. Since that day, he has sworn revenge on Saint Honore. Although they can’t be as well-known as Saint Honore, their bakery is better thanks to Seung Ji.

The competition ends and the cakes are served to Panda, Da Na, her aunt, and the customer. After eating, they all choose Seung Ji’s cake. At the second round, cakes are served. A cake which has a panda face is served but the face changes with each slice. Won Il thinks that the winning cakes must have been his hyung’s works. However, he notices Seung Ji’s smile on his face. He checks the cake design posted by Seung Ji and finds the panda cake on the back including a drawing of Won Il angry panda. Won Il sulks at his office. His mother asks Eun Bi to tell her everything about Panda. Seung Ji’ grandfather looks on while Seung Ji and the Panda sisters celebrate their win at the other side of the street. His grandfather is proud of him but sad.

Eun Bi visits Café Panda to confront Panda about Won Il. Panda explains that Won Il was always sweet and they’re just friends. Eun Bi gets even more jealous when Panda calls him Won Il-ie. Da Na warns her that she keeps acting like that to her sister, she’ll have to do something about it such as seducing him.

Won Il paces around Saint Honore as he’s not satisfied about what has been happening. His hyung asks him what’s wrong because it’s not like him. Won Il asks him what the cake tasted like but his hyung replies that he didn’t get to taste it. Won Il thinks it must have been the design. His hyung tells Won Il that if he were him, he’d drop everyone else and hire someone like Seung Ji. Then, his hyung keeps quiet. Won Il does his research while his stepfather nervously watches from afar.

Seung Ji visits his grandfather who is making a special cake for a mysterious special guest. Seung Ji greets Cherry Blossom as noonim and his grandfather scolds him for addressing his daughter as noonim. Seung Ji wonders if he should address her as ahjumma or mother. He also mentions that the bakery becomes livelier since Cherry Blossom came. Seung Ji asks his grandfather whether he heard that he has won the competition. His grandfather doesn’t reply but he knows that he won. He tells his grandfather that he’ll take Saint Honore down. His grandfather worries about his dangerous actions. Seung Ji reassures him that he won’t do that. His grandfather reminds him to watch his actions while living with the two girls. Seung Ji happily said that his grandfather misses his so much that he secretly watches him. Seung Ji does kissy faces at his grandfather who stuffs a lettuce wrap in his mouth. Later, before Seung Ji goes back to the café, he promises that he’ll become the best patisserie.

Panda comes to the bakery and finds Seung Ji throwing out all the ingredients which she had bought. She complains until he shows her that all of them are expired or not good quality. He takes her to the shop to buy new supplies and ingredients. She stops midway because she doesn’t have money. He shows him the money in hand and she excitedly grabs his arm. He pulls back and asks whether she had dated before. While shopping, she asks him about his past including his childhood times. He snaps back at her at he’s an orphan and doesn’t remember his mother. Her tears flll eyes and they leave the shop.

His grandfather and Cherry Blossom go to the police station to look for someone named In Ha but couldn’t find that person. She promises not to disappoint him.

Seung Ji follows Panda through a park and wonders why she won’t talk to him. She asks if he’s really an orphan and he tells her that he can’t remember anything about his parents. He shows her a scare on his head. He says that he got it when he was 11 years old and can’t remember anything before that. Panda tells him that when she was little, her mother took her to a friend’s home. Her mother tells her that she’s an orphan and left her. This means that she remember her bad past when he mentioned that he’s an orphan.
Her aunt comes and picks them up. Seung Ji mentions about loaning for supplies. Her aunt freaks out and Panda tells him not to talk about loans in front of her. Her aunt questions him about his background and he avoids answering them.

Flahsback: Little Seung Ji is crying while Panda is comforting him. Little Won Il comes up and asks what’s wrong. Panda explains that his family’s bakery burned down and his parents left him at her house for the night. However, they don’t know where they are. She goes to investigate and the goys stare at each other. Little Seung Ji’s father comes to pick him up. Won Il’s cellphone rang and he gets a lecture from his mother. Seung Ji’s father tries to make friends with him.

At Saint Honore, Won Il’s stepfather comes and threatens him that he shouldn’t ask him for money to run his company.

Da Na and Panda are discussing about cupcakes and Seung Ji overhears their conversation. Panda is writing an article and he suggests that she should interview his grandfather. They also discuss what kind of cakes girls want and boys want. Both girls and boys want to eat without getting fat and losing muscles.

Seung Ji stays up all night designing cupcakes that suit the customers’ wants. The next morning, he shows his creations of cupcakes boys and girls like. They set up a table nearby for a promotional event and sell lots of cupcakes. Later at night, Panda and Seung Ji count their today’s profits. The annoying baker spies on them from outside and comes up with a plan to get rid of Seung Ji. Seung Ji and Panda come up with a plan to keep Café Panda running. Seung Ji will provide the operating costs and Panda will follow his rules.

Won Il continues to do research but finds nothing. He and his hyung talk about Seung Ji. Won Il admits that he can’t find anything about Seung Ji. His hyung is surprised that he’s studying Seung Ji and points out that he’s in a love triangle. His hyung suggests that Won Il should be friendly with Seung Ji if he wants to learn more about him. They decide to send someone as an agent. Perfect timing. Won Yi comes outside and asks what they’re doing. They look at her and come to a decision.

Won Yi offers her services to Panda as a free part-time worker. She use honorifics when she talks with people in the Café including when she calls Seung Ji hyung. He’s not really comfortable with her presence. They sell cupcakes outside again and Seung Ji flirts with Panda. When they return to the café, someone scribble some writings on the window. They obviously know is the annoying baker who did this. Da Na and Customer excited to find that their business is featured on a blog. Seung Ji and Panda gives a high five at each other.

Won Il looks through the pictures on the blog. He’s angry to see how close Panda and Seung Ji are. Won Yi asks for payment for her efforts. He hands her the money to buy cakes while she thought that the money is for her. He asks if Panda sent any messages. She did and she’ll come to see him later after a meeting the next day.

The next day, a delivery shows up in front of Café Panda. Won Il gives her a really nice massage chair. While he’s taking a tour of Saint Honore with his mother and Eun Bi, he gets a call from Panda and goes outside to answer it. His mother and Eun Bi are angry and jealous. Panda tells him about not sending expensive gifts. Eun Bi comes out and says that she stopped ‘them’ from changing the menu.

Panda complains to herself about Won Il’s gift since she’s not his girlfriend. Why on earth did he spend money on her? Seung Ji is jealous that she keeps thinking about Won Il and angrily drives her to meet his grandfather. His grandfather treats her like his granddaughter-in-law. Instead of answering the interview questions, he gives relationship advice to her.

Outside, Seung Ji talks with his friends about buying a chair which is more expensive than the one Won Il bought for Panda. He also discusses making the café more profitable. They wonder why is he doing this and asks whether he has fallen for Panda. The older friend mentions how this would be a great business opportunity – loan Panda the money, turn the business around, and take over the café. Panda comes out and hear the conversation. Seung Ji looks up to see her shocked and hurt face.

She leaves and goes back to Café Panda where Won Il is waiting for her. He sees her gloomy face and asks what happened. She looks toward Seung Ji and makes Won Il believe that he’s the one that makes her sad. He asks Seung Ji what happened. Eun Bi walks in to see Won Il holding Panda’s arm.

Point of View

The childhood story about Seung Ji and Won Il. Interesting. At least, we get the idea how they’ve gone through hard times during their childhood. It seems to me that both of them like Panda when they were young. Panda is like their little angel who is always there for them. I’m really looking forward to the love triangle including their childhood stories. Wonder who’ll be Panda’s hedgehog. The mystery is yet to be solved.

It’s clear to see what Seung Ji’s aim for. We get to know that he had bad experiences with Saint Honore and wants to get back at them by being the best patisserie ever. I’m curious about one thing: why did he recite Latin terms before he starts to do some baking and making cakes? It looks like he said his own extra words of encouragement for himself. I know that ‘One, Two, Three. Go!’ is his motto when he starts to get in the game but the Latin terms where did he get it from and why does he says that all the time. Along the way, as he is always going to be with Panda, he’s going to have feelings for her and I hope it doesn’t interrupt his main goal.

Won Il needs to chill. He always gets so anxious whenever Panda and Seung Ji are together. Even his hyung tells him to calm down. It’s true that Seung Ji has feelings for her since young but still…..he needs to understand how she feels. He has to listen to what she thinks. At the moment, Panda treats Won Il as a friend but didn’t realize that he has feelings for her. He needs to take time to make her realize that he loves her. He just has to use the right method to get her attention. Also, he shouldn’t be an annoying person who whines a lot when it comes to love relationship.

It’s great to see the sibling interactions in this episode. Da Na supports Panda no matter what especially when she defends her to Eun Bi who talks bad about her. Won Il and Won Yi is my favourite siblings in this drama. Won Yi tried her best to make both sides happy even though Won Il keeps going after Panda. The problem with Won Il, at the moment, is that he keeps bothering Panda especially when he gives a very expensive massage chair to Panda. I feel that Won Il doesn’t understand women at all.

My favourite scene which touches my heart is the bonding between Seung Ji and his grandfather. Even though they joke around, I can feel the love and care between them. His grandfather is so funny and sweet especially when he gives Seung Ji the lettuce wrap. So, their conversation is funny and adorable.

Since Panda sort of misunderstood what Seung Ji and his friends said about the café, Seung Ji better tell her that the previous conversations aren’t true. He has been helping her in the café business especially when he bought the ingredients and make delicious and eye-catching cupcakes which makes my mouth drool.

Panda and Hedgehog - Episode 2

Panda and Hedgehog
 판다양과 고슴도치

Episode Recap

Seung Ji catches Panda from falling from the stool. He smiles at her and lean in closer. She smiles back and closes her eyes. Won Il looks hurt while watching them from afar. Seung Ji asks what she is doing when she is not getting up. She struggles to get up in an awkward way. Seung Ji looks up to see Won Yi staring at him while both she and Won Il drive away. Panda tries to bend down to pick up her phone but she finds that she has an aching back. Seung Ji brings her over to a chair. The annoying baker comes out and asks if she hurts her back from doing a Panda dance. He forcefully straightens her back but she shouts in pain. He pulls Seung Ji aside and asks what he does. He tries giving him the third degree but Seung Ji is not playing along. Panda asks the baker to buy some medicinal patches and he asks her to give him some money. Both of them have no money. Seung Ji lends him some but the baker keeps asking for more. Then, the baker leaves without the extra money.

Won Yi tries to comfort her bother by telling him that nothing happened between Seung Ji and Panda since they separated immediately. He holds back his tears while she tells him that it’s better he left. He speeds off which cause her to jerk back in the seat.

Eun Bi calls Panda again and asks her what happened. Seung Ji did hand signals so that he can ask for a drink. Panda tells him to get some inside the café and apologizes for not getting drinks for him. She tells Eun Bi what happened but Eun Bi asks her if she blames her for her injury. Eun Bi happily says that when she say what happened, she reminds her of Won Il. She repeats over and over again. Her colleague reminds her to ask about the interview. Panda says no matter what happens, she needs to go for the interview. She goes upstairs to get the money to pay Seung Ji back. She threatens if the baker is spending money on something else which we see that the baker is spending money on black bean noodles.

Seung Ji sees the mess in the kitchen and starts to clean up. He sees the cake and asks if they are playing at making food. In his thoughts, he says that a cake must have a taste everyone wants, with a look that appeals to all. Then, he starts to deconstruct the cake and redecorate it.

Panda comes downstairs and see her loyal customer drooling in front of the café window. She asks what she is doing. She asks if Panda has hired a new chef and she insists that she hasn’t. She asks Panda to recruit him so that the café will be popular and she gets the opportunity to seduce Hyun Bin.

Seung Ji places his cake creation while Panda and loyal customer are drooling. Panda says that it gives her hope while the loyal customer says it makes people passionate. Thus, they found the cake that they’ve been searching for. They eat the cake and ask for but Seung Ji disappeared. The loyal customer goes out to find him but she brings back the flier with a note saying that he’ll be back. The flier also has a drawn hedgehog. The loyal customer tells Panda to call her unni since they have become closer.

Seung Ji brings the guys to a barbeque restaurant so that they can enjoy eating some juicy beef. The owner of the restaurant comes over and eats their food. His friend asks Seung Ji if he got the money from Panda who is the accomplice. Seung Ji explains that it didn’t happen. The owner asks if he’s getting married and the guys laugh. However, he says that he is bad at making good choices so it’s either that or he plans to quit his job. Seung Ji is surprised as he knows him well. He asks the owner what to tell his grandfather so he doesn’t get hurt. He tells him to say that it’s a girl problem. They need to work some things out first such as proving to his grandfather that he is an independent adult.

Seung Ji goes home and hesitates to go into his grandfather’s room but decides to leave him alone. His grandfather is sitting in his room crying over a pile of fliers with little Seung Ji’s photo in them.

Won Il paces back and forth in his office while having doubts about the relationship between Seung Ji and Panda. Won Yi pokes her head in and asks if she can share her opinions. She thinks that the guy is poor and Panda is suffering because of him. Won Il doesn’t understand and asks her to explain in English. She hilariously tries to find words until she says that her English skills are not good. He apologizes. She explains that Panda looks surprised. He agrees that it would be shocking if they’ve kissed. Won Yi asks him whether he kissed anyone before. He admits that he had never dated and kissed anyone before. She explains that a kiss happen when on is drunk or at a nightclub. He asks if that’s how she acts and she replies that’s how men behave when they’re drunk. She is surprised to hear that he has never drink alcohol. She sighs as she’s never met a guy like him before and he has a lot to learn.

He says his personal motto ‘Keep calm and carry on’ but Won Yi tells him now is not the time to be calm. She informs him that their mother is setting him up on a blind them. He leaves immediately while she chases after him. Their mother comes out and asks Won Yi what he’s doing. Won Yi tells her that he’s not interested in going blind dates. Their mother wonders where his personality comes from. Won Yi points at herself. Their mother goes inside to complain to their father and points out that she’s his real mother. She tries to cover but saying that it would be nice if he’s the real Won Il’s father.

Panda’s aunt pulls up next to Won Il and marvels that such a young man to have an expensive car. She tells him to spend some money at her niece’s café but he’s not listening and drives off. She follows him and surprised to see that he parks his car in front of Panda Café. He goes inside and finds the baker laze around at a table. Her aunt comes in and scolds him. When Won Il hears that she’s Panda’s aunt, he hurries to button his top button to make himself more presentable. The baker explains that Panda hurt herself after putting a show on a stool. They went to the sauna to heal her back. Won Il sneaks out while they are talking. Her aunt notices that he left and wonders why he even came. Panda and loyal customer come back from the sauna. Panda tells her aunt not to worry so much.

Seung Ji comes home and quarrels with his grandfather. He tells him that he wants to talk man to man so they go for drinks. His grandfather is sullen and they argue over pouring drinks. He asks Seung Ji if he’s acting like this because he has found a better place. Then, he asks him if he has relationship problems with a girl and did he get her pregnant. He changes the subject by talking about his own daughter. Seung Ji asks if she refuses to live with his grandfather and wonders why they don’t move if the place is too small. His grandfather replies that it’s because that the house is special to her. She’ll only come if he tells her that he’s dying. Seung Ji asks his grandfather to just tell her. Then, he talks about Panda who owns a cake shop.

Panda’s aunt tries to fix her back while her sister, Da Na, calculates the money. Panda explains about meeting with Seung Ji while Seung Ji explains to his grandfather that he fell in love with Panda at first sight. He insists that he didn’t get her pregnant while Da Na says people are going to think that Panda’s pregnant because of her weird walking. She can’t miss her interview even though she has an aching back. She announces that she will hire Seung Ji and work at Saint Honore. With that, everything will work out smoothly.

The next day, Won Il’s stepdad is angry and his mother praises on how awesome he looks. Won Il says that he’s the boss of manipulation. His stepdad goes to the kitchen to judge the applicants. Some are yelled while some are praised. Won Il looks on with disappoint and leaves. His stepdad’s assistant informs him that Won Il has been watching the whole time.

Seung Ji’s grandfather comes in to wake up drunken Seung Ji. He tells him that he will take care of him. His friends come to help him sober him up. His grandfather makes cakes and Seung Ji comes in to say that he’s going out to meet a girl and takes a cake. He looks at the cake and says that cakes should be made with happiness which his grandfather used to say it to him.

Won Il sees Panda coming for her interview and rushes to come down and help her. He scolds her for coming when she is in so much pain. He uses banmal with her while Panda is in confusion. Her aunt wonders what that guy is doing here and Da Na tells her that he’s the manager of Saint Honore. Her aunt says that they must have some kind of destiny.

Won Il carefully brings Panda to the office and requests Eun Bi to bring some medicine and cakes. Eun Bi stares at Panda and leaves while complaining. Panda asks him why he’s speaking informally to her. He asks if she recognizes him. She couldn’t tell until he says that he’s Pangy and he’s the one who drew cakes at the sidewalk. Panda asks how long have they haven’t seen each other and he replies that it has been around 14 years which surprised her. He immediately explains that he went to the US and he hasn’t seen his parents for so long. Panda squishes his face while Eun Bi comes back and sees them from afar. With that, she storms off again.

They discuss how much the other had changed for the past 14 years. When he sees her lips, he starts to hiccup. It gets worse when she pushes his head down and leans in closer. He hiccups faster until she scares him. She squishes his face again and stands up as he’s saying that he’s hot. Then, she acts in a proper manner and says that she needs to go. She tells him that if he hires her they can play and work together.

Seung Ji meets with Cherry Blossom and presents the cake which his grandfather made it with happiness and success. He asks her to come and take care of his grandfather. Seung Ji will move out and he’s worried about his grandfather if she doesn’t come to look after him. She refuses so he lies to her that his grandfather has a disease.

While Won Il brings Panda to the car, she honestly tells him that she’s not really good at anything in particular but she’ll work hard. She asks him to give her a position that she can be comfortable with. She tells him that he has to come to her café when her café is popular. She throws her arms in the air when he says he will. She freezes and finds that her back is fixed. She thanks Won Il for fixing her back and grabs his hands which makes him freeze for a while.

Outside, Panda presents the Saint Honore cake to her aunt. She introduces Pangy to aunt and they have an awkward moment when she mentions that she has seen him yesterday. Panda asks how they met and he hesitates to say that he was stalking her but her aunt covers for him. Panda introduces him to Da Na and she works there to steal the secret recipe. They chat for a while and Panda asks why he doesn’t fire Da Na for trying to steal the secret recipe from Saint Honore. Her aunt says that she feels that they will meet often.

Seung Ji tells Cherry Blossom that he learned baking while he was in jail. His grandfather would come to teach them. He took him in for the last five years. His grandfather said that his kindness was karma. Seung Ji always hates his grandfather and never cared about why he is having a hard time. So, he asks Cherry
Blossom to help him to replay his grandfather’s kindness. His grandfather continues to make cakes while Cherry Blossom eats the cake. Finally, she calls Seung Ji to tell him that she’ll come. Seung Ji tells Cherry Blossom that he learned baking while he was in jail. Grandpa would come to teach them and he took him in for the last 5 years. Grandpa said his kindness was karma—if he was kind to Seung Ji, his daughter would have luck. Seung Ji always disliked Grandpa, and never bothered to wonder why he was having such a hard time. That’s why it’s important that Cherry Blossom help him repay Grandpa’s kindness. It’s the only thing he can do for him.

He calls Panda to discuss about the contract and tells her that he will head over to the café. On his way, he runs into the same guy, who owns him money, and chases him again. Panda saves the last slice of Saint Honore cake for Seung Ji. Da Na and the baker keep asking to eat that slice. While she tries to stop them, the loyal customer takes it away and eats it. Seung Ji stands out seeing the scenario, sighs, and walks away.

Won Il asks his sister about dating Panda and she suggests to go on a movie date. Seung Ji comes to find Cherry Blossom and his grandfather talking. He quietly leaves the house. He calls his grandfather to tell him that he’s staying over at his girlfriend’s house. Instead, he crashes at Byung Moo’s house.
The following day, Won Il waits for Panda outside the café and calls to check for the flowers that he has ordered. It’s closed as there’s a sign with chains. Seung Ji strolls up and casually jumps over the chain. He lies down on the bench outside while Won Il looks at him with his sad face.

Point of View

At the moment, there’s much interaction between Panda and Seung Ji as they have their personal problems to settle before they meet up and introduce themselves. At least, you can enjoy Won Il and Panda cute romance when they finally meet at his office. She instantly goes cute and friendly with her middle school friend, Won Il. Overall, there are cute moments from these three main characters which make me have the anticipation to see more from them when they become closer. Towards the end, you can see Won Il’s glare at Seung Ji. Oh no, a battle to get Panda. When Seung Ji starts to work at Panda Café, I am looking forward to see the start of their close and funny relationship. Although it’s just the beginning, I’m rooting for Panda and Seung Ji couple. Sorry, Won Il.

Now, we find that Won Il is the little boy who is outside the bakery who was obsessed with cakes. Then, we see that he hates his stepdad so much and finds him very evil in terms making people think he’s the guy who makes cake magical. Poor him that he hasn’t seen his parents for 14 years. What on earth was he doing in the US. I find it really annoying that his mother keeps on pampering him even though Won Il is obviously an adult. Good job for Won Il to escape from the blind date which his mother set up for him.

Panda determines to keep the café going and she better fire the annoying and selfish pastry chef. Way to go, Seung Ji for telling that guy off. I like Panda for her strong character as she still wants to go for the interview even though she has a terrible aching back. As usual, I like her bright personality. However, she has to go through her close friend Eun Bi since we find out that she is seriously jealous that she is really close with Won Il. A rival battle will soon begin even though they have been friends for so long.

Seung Ji used to be in prison and thanks to his grandfather he’s a new man. He’s lived with his grandfather for 5 years. I love that he wants to earn money and make cakes and pastries so that his grandfather can live a better life. Even though they hate each other sometimes, at least they have a caring relationship. He even tries to find his grandfather’s daughter so that both his grandfather and her can be together. I do laugh a lot and find it adorable when Seung Ji can’t really handle his alcohol. It’s so cute when his grandfather cuddles Seung Ji and tries to give him some water to drink.

Well, besides the eye-catching and mouth drooling cakes and pastries, their stories and relationship is going to develop real soon.

Before Panda leaves, she tells Saint Honore to wait as she believes that she will definitely work here. Seung Ji stands outside the display window and tells Saint Honore that he will eat it up. Finally, Won Il drives up and tells Saing Honore that he’ll protect it. Each of them leaves in different ways without seeing each other.
Won Yi helps her brother to unpack for her intentions to find the gift. He tells her that whole suitcase is hers. She screams for joy while saying that he’s the best brother ever. She tells him that she told their mother that she wasn’t going to college which she decides to cut off her allowance. Thus, she has no money. Won Il waves a few bank notes at her. He tells her that she must go back to school and start studying. She reluctantly agrees and is happy to get some money. Won Il also gives her a credit card and she thanks him while saying ‘oppa’.

Seung Ji’s grandfather looks over his accounts book and sighs as he has no money. He sighs that it’s so hard for him to be a father. He thinks back about his earlier meeting under the cherry blossoms with Seung Ji’s mother. He gives her a phone. While he’s sleeping, Seung Ji sneaks in and tucks his grandfather to bed. He is impressed with how his grandfather has a girl. Then, he tells him that he overreacts earlier and he should not suffer for love. Seung Ji goes after him but runs into Panda who is pushing a shopping cart that has a panda suit. He is, again, distracted. His friend catches up and they realize that they’ve lost the guy again. The guy comes out and sees them from behind. While they are noticing that he’s there, he quickly escapes. Seung Ji thinks that Panda must be his accomplice and goes searching for her. After that, he finds that she owns Panda Café.

Seung Ji and his friend spot his grandfather and follow him to a woman’s inn. Then, he goes to a nearby café. They wait outside to see who he is meeting. Seung Ji’s mother comes in but didn’t see her face. They notice that it’s Cherry Blossom. Seung Ji remembers talking to his grandfather under the cherry blossoms. His grandfather returns to the bakery and has an argument with Seung Ji who asks whether he broke up with Cherry Blossom. His grandfather said that she did because she couldn’t live together in a small place.

The guys return to the bakery and bump into Byung Moo who is wondering why a strange woman is looking for his grandfather at the bakery. Seung Ji tries to put the puzzle pieces together and realizes that he didn’t earn the money for himself. Instead, he pays the salary to his employees including Seung Ji. He wonders why his grandfather was so poor and finds out that it’s because of him as he hears from the butcher that he always buy the best meats for Seung Ji. He goes home and is frustrated. His grandfather has no money because he takes care of Seung Ji. He can’t be happy because he finds his daughter who can’t live with him since Seung Ji is around. They are not even blood related. So, he decides to quit and leave so that his grandfather can live a better life.

Won Il has a photo shoot at Saint Honore. He goes along with it but ends it early. He goes back to work while he holds out his hand so that Eun Bi can pass him a file. However, she holds his hand instead. He asks her to give him the resumes and asks her to let go of his hand. She tries to flirt with him but she receives an angry stare from him until she leaves. He looks through the resumes and is shocked to see that he has found Panda’s.

Won Yi visits him and notice that he’s pacing back and forth. He shows her Panda’s resume and asks if she know who that is. She stares in confusion and he tells her that Panda is his last love. She asks if he hasn’t dated anyone. He replies that he’s too busy. She brags that she is the love counsellor and matchmaker and she is willing to help him. He says that he’ll pay her but only if she’s not scamming him. She informs him that women love gentle guys.

Seung Ji takes his resume to all the bakeries but he is rejected every single time. He meets up with a guy to discuss about starting his own business but he finds that he need at least one million won to do that. On his way back to the bakery, his friend stops him and shows him the flier of the Panda Café. Seung Ji sees the flier: ‘Patisserie wanted, free room, start immediately’. He runs off to try his luck.
Panda tries to hang up the giant stuffed panda but she’s having a hard time. Eun Bi calls her to tell her about her resume. Suddenly, she falls of from the stool and Seung Ji saves her in his arms. From afar, Won Il sees them in a romantic moment which makes him really sad.

Point of View

Both of the guys are funny, handsome, and cute. We have to figure out who is the hedgehog who loves Panda. The little boy sees his first love. Won Il’s love since middle school is also Panda. Won Il is determine to find his love while Seung Ji draws a hedgehog on the poster. Won Il is upset because Seung Ji holds on to Panda in his arms. Ah, the jealousy and anxiousness from him. So, who is that kid? Who is Panda’s love? Seung Ji or Won Il?

Yoon Seung Ah is just the right person for this drama because of her cute and easy-going personality which everyone would love. Also, her determinations and commitment to this acting makes me put her in my favourite actress list. Since Panda has bright personality, I think that’s the reason why two of the guys fell fall her when they were young.

Dong Hae makes my heart flutter with his looks and personalities when he portrays Seung Ji. He totally suits the character. You have Seung Ji who is not only funny but he has determination when it comes to making cakes attractive and delicious. Also, he’s the caring person as he cares a lot for his grandfather even though he makes him angry sometimes. I even like his counting before he starts his game.

Since it’s just the beginning for knowing Won Il, all I know is that he’s handsome and he’s determine to find his first and last love. It’s funny when he admits that he never been on a date. His sister, Won Yi, is so enthusiastic and funny especially when it comes to giving relationship advices. I like the brother and sister relationship between those two. Their bonding is so close that it becomes funny and serious at times including Won Il who has relationship problems.

I’m really looking forward to more episodes from this sweet and breezy drama. It’s just the beginning and I’m sure it’ll lighten up my hearts with love, joy, and laughter. The casts are doing great jon in portraying the characters. I’m sure there will be more to come from these characters as it’s just the beginning for them to become closer. Who knows? There might be another triangle relationship. Time to see who the hedgehog is. 1, 2, 3. Go!!!
